Last Updated: August 21, 2026 | Effective Date: August 21, 2026
Important Legal Notice: Rake is a business operations and financial calculation software application. Neither Rake nor its developers are registered Tax Agents, Certified Practising Accountants (CPAs), or financial advisors. The features and reports provided are strictly for general information and educational scenario modeling.

1. General No-Advice Notice

All calculations, tax estimates, risk scores, scenario projections, and reports produced by Rake are provided for general informational purposes only. Nothing contained within the Software constitutes formal legal, accounting, tax, or financial advice under Australian law or the laws of any other jurisdiction.

Rake is not a registered Tax Agent under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (Cth), nor a licensed financial services provider under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). You should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of any output from Rake without first seeking independent advice from a qualified Tax Agent, CPA, or legal practitioner.

2. Goods and Services Tax (GST) & Business Activity Statements (BAS)

2.1 Operational Calculation Estimates

Rake includes tools to track GST collected on sales and GST credits on business expenses, generating estimated Business Activity Statement (BAS) summaries. These figures are computed strictly from data manually entered or imported by you.

2.2 No Standard Business Reporting (SBR) Integration

Rake is an internal operational tracking tool and is not directly integrated with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Standard Business Reporting (SBR) gateway. Output summaries do not replace official BAS reporting software or lodgement mechanisms. You maintain full responsibility for verifying all numbers against tax invoices and bank statements before submitting official BAS returns to the ATO.

3. Personal Services Income (PSI) & PSB Assessments

3.1 Algorithmic Risk Indicators

Rake incorporates diagnostic tools designed to evaluate whether your income may be classified as Personal Services Income (PSI) under Part 2-42 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (ITAA 1997), and whether your entity satisfies Personal Services Business (PSB) tests (such as the Results Test, 80% Rule, Unrelated Clients Test, Employment Test, and Business Premises Test).

3.2 Simplified Criteria and ATO Rulings

These assessment tools apply simplified rules derived from ATO public rulings (including TR 2022/3 and TR 2001/7) based on self-reported inputs. PSB determination is highly fact-dependent and subject to ATO audit scrutiny. Algorithmic pass/fail indicators in Rake:

4. Division 7A Shareholder Loan Calculator

4.1 Illustrative Financial Modeling

Rake includes a Division 7A calculator designed to model minimum yearly repayments (MYR) and benchmark interest charges for private company loans made to shareholders or associates under Division 7A of Part III of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 (ITAA 1936).

4.2 Benchmark Rates and Compliance Documents

Please note that:

5. Wealth Strategy and Dividend Optimization Scenarios

5.1 Educational Scenario Tools

The wealth strategy and remuneration comparison modules in Rake (e.g., comparing director salary versus franked dividends, corporate tax retention, and PSI profit extractions) are educational scenario tools designed to illustrate theoretical tax outcomes.

5.2 Simplified Tax Assumptions

Scenario calculations rely on standardized baseline assumptions, including standard Australian individual tax brackets, corporate base rate entity tax rates (e.g., 25% vs 30%), Medicare levy rates, and gross-up franking credit formulas. Actual tax liabilities depend on individual factors not captured by Rake, including:

6. Contracting Agency Margin and Middleman Billing Calculator

Rake includes calculators to analyze agency pay rates, markup percentages, and client billing rates for independent contractors operating through recruiters or middleman agencies. These tools are illustrative and do not account for variable state-based payroll tax thresholds, statutory Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rate changes, workers' compensation insurance levies, or state-specific labor hire licensing regulations.

7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Where Rake's AI features are utilized to generate invoice line item descriptions, work summaries, or project health notes, text is generated programmatically via third-party language models. Generated text may contain inaccuracies or factual errors. You are responsible for auditing all AI-generated content before incorporating it into client invoices, statutory contracts, or tax records.

8. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Professional Liability

By using Rake, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:
